Title: Far From the Tree
Medium: Digital
The metaphor “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” has stuck with me for a while now. I wanted to create a piece that represents the saying and felt it was appropriate to show two apples by themselves, just sitting in each other’s company. The piece is about breaking a cycle and becoming your own person, despite parental influence that may feel like it’s out of your control. The sketchy sort of art style was to keep a childlike touch to it, as children are often the “apple” in this scenario. This piece was created digitally. The apple may not fall far from the tree, but it will grow into its own, hence why they are sort of separated on a piece of wood that could be the original “tree.”
