The annual Greeley Art Show took place last Tuesday, enabling teachers, faculty, and families to appreciate student-made pieces from across the district. The show included a multitude of mediums, ranging from sculpture to photography to painting, all of which were displayed in Greeley’s iLab, as well as the surrounding L and C building hallways.
From more standardized art classes in the elementary and middle school levels, to Greeley’s expansive web of art electives—which includes the option to take AP Art in a student’s senior year—the show also serves as a way for students within these classes to show off and take pride in their work. Sophomore Allison M., who had a photography piece featured in the show, explained, “I really appreciated the opportunity to show my art to the school because I feel we don’t always get many of them.”
While much of the Art Show has since been taken down, it proved to be a huge success, with many of the artists within our school, such as Allison M, already looking ahead, and advocating for more platforms to showcase student work: “I think there’s definitely an opportunity for art to be more integrated into school society, and I think that the Art Show shows that…everyone can appreciate it.”
