Starting next year, there will be a new schedule at Greeley. The schedule includes changes in the activity periods, and changes in the day 5 and 6 schedule. Here, the new schedule is explained, with Greeley Principal Dr. Sepe’s comments on the 2026-2027 schedule.
There will no longer be day 5A or 6A. Every cycle is the same, with days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Days 5 and 6 are the only days that are changing next year.
With the new schedule, advisory will be on a consistent day every cycle. Advisory will be on day 5 from 8:35 to 8:50 AM.
In addition to the changes with advisory, there will be a new period on day 5 before advisory called an enhancement period. The enhancement period is from 7:45 to 8:30 AM. This is a time for extra help in classes or review before assessments, and other activities such as small ensembles in the orchestra. During the enhancement period, there will also be grade-level counseling groups. The time will foster student growth and self-expression.
“We also wanted to create intentional time for students to take advantage of some of the outstanding spaces and opportunities in our building, including the STEAM spaces and the SRC [greenhouse],” said Dr. Sepe. She explained that this enhancement period, “opens the door for students to work on creative academic initiatives, passion projects, collaborative experiences, and interdisciplinary work that can further enhance their learning and even become meaningful parts of future college applications and portfolios.”
On day 6, there will be a professional learning period at 7:45 AM. Clubs will meet after that for 20 minutes, from 8:20 AM to 8:50 AM. “The update in the schedule allows for students to not only have club time, but to now have the enhancement period to further their interests and passions in their curricular based content areas, as well as many student leadership opportunities,” said student life coordinator Ms. Olmo.
That these changes were made because the new schedule has many benefits for students, teachers, and administrators. “One of the biggest benefits is the addition of dedicated extra-help and support time, which currently does not exist in a structured way during the school day,” said Dr. Sepe.
The schedule creates time for counseling, peer collaboration, and “enrichment opportunities that support the whole student, not just academics,” explained Dr. Sepe. By providing consistency with days 5 and 6, Greeley will have more meaningful implementation of advisory, stronger peer leadership, and more opportunities for student voice through Student Government, and other school initiatives.
Students agree that the new schedule, especially the enhancement period, will improve their learning as a whole. “I think the enhancement period will be an interesting addition, and it will be nice to get extra help,” said sophomore Anika G.
It is expected that the thoughtfully revised schedule will help students feel connected and comfortable at Greeley. Dr. Sepe says the changes are “designed to better support academics while making the school day more intentional, flexible, and student-centered,” and students have agreed that they predict this new schedule will enhance Greeley students’ education.
