The winter season has begun, and many different athletes and teams here at Greeley are already deep in the heart of competition. We wanted to highlight some star athletes over the past week (Dec 12-18) who were major contributors to the success of their teams.
- Brody Stogsdill, Boys Ice Hockey, Senior
Stogsdill scored and had four assists in the Quakers win over Carmel earlier in the week, and also had two goals and another assist in a win over Fox Lane. Stogsdill also reached the milestone of 100 career points, exemplifying his elite contribution over his four years. Congrats to Brody on the incredible accomplishment, and good luck the rest of this season!
- Alexa Zinovoy, Girls Basketball, Senior
Zinovoy had a strong week, averaging 7.5 points per game in two games this week. Zinovoy, a senior leader on the team, will look to right the ship for a team that is facing some early season adversity after two tough losses. However, the team is extremely talented, and with players like Alexa starting to find their stride, it is only a matter of time before the results start flipping!
- Jake Sheehy, Senior, Boys Basketball
Sheehy’s dominance has been a large reason for the Quaker’s 3-0 start, as he is averaging 18.3 points per game throughout the three contests. Sheehy, despite being over six feet tall and scoring most of his points close to the basket, even showcased his range and versatility in his game, drilling a three pointer. Sheehy also committed to the University of Michigan this week! Congratulations Jake, and keep up the great work!
- Alumni Shoutout: Nick Townsend
Former Greeley Basketball star Nick Townsend is now in his senior season at Yale. So far this season, the forward is averaging 16.9 points per game, along with 7.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists. He has led the Yale Bulldogs to an 11-1 start and is a large part of their 18th ranked offense in the country, according to kenpom.com. Be sure to tune into ESPN2 next Sunday at 8:00 PM, as Nick and his team face the 16th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide!
