The winter season is well underway and we wanted to highlight some of the athletes that have been dominating in their respective sports in this past week (1/16-1/22).
Ryan W., Boys Junior Varsity Basketball, Freshman
In an exhilarating 75-53 win over Walter Panas on January 20, freshman Ryan W. emerged as an offensive threat, scoring 11 points while adding 4 steals on the defensive end. He stayed hot the following day, tallying 9 points while and 3 more steals, contributing to the Quakers’ dominant 74-39 victory over Roosevelt. Ryan continues to rise as a young leader on the undefeated squad, making impacts on both sides of the floor.
Matthew F., Boys Varsity Basketball, Senior
Matthew F., a lanky guard over six feet tall, grabbed 4 rebounds along with 6 points to contribute to Greeley’s performance against Roosevelt. Although the Quakers came up short, we recognize Matthew’s stellar performance. Great job Matthew!
Andrew K., Boys Wrestling, Sophomore
Andrew K. has continued his dominant sophomore campaign with a great week of matches. Andrew, a smaller wrestler, has dominated his weight class since his freshman year. He has been extremely resilient this year, battling a wrist injury since the beginning of the season. Last week, Andrew was nominated for the wrestler of the week award for his excellent performances! Congratulations to Andrew and good luck for the rest of this season!
Abby S., Girls Basketball Team, Freshman
Abby has been a source of light and positivity in what has been a difficult season for the girls’ basketball team. In the game on 1/16 against Fox Lane, Abby drilled a three-pointer on the first possession. By the end of the game, Abby led the team in scoring, with 12 points and three three-pointers. Despite going 0-2 on the week, Abby and the team are confident that they can turn it around, and it is evident that this roster has the talent to do just that.
